Board of Appeals
 

Board of Appeals Members:

The Board of Appeals hears requests concerning variances and interpretations pertaining to the Zoning Ordinance. The Board consists of 7 members appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Council. The Board of Appeals' decisions are not referred to the City Council. The Board meets on the first Monday of each month, if applications have been filed for consideration, at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, 300 S. Whittle, Olney, IL. The meetings are open to the public. In order to process and publish a request, an application must be submitted to City Hall at least 19 days prior to the Board of Appeals meeting. 

There is a fee of $100.00 for all applications for processing, publishing and postage costs. Any amount over the fee will be billed to the applicant. 

Notices regarding the request will be sent to adjoining property owners. Information regarding the name of adjoining property owners will be completed by City Hall staff. 

Applicants are required to attend the hearing. If the applicant fails to appear, the request can either be denied or postponed. In order to process and publish a request, an application must be submitted to City Hall at least 19 days prior to the Board of Appeals meeting. 

Notices regarding the request will be sent to adjoining property owners of the subject property. Information regarding the name of surrounding property owners will be completed by City Hall staff.
